Keyamo Denies Claims of Relocating Fire-fighting Simulator to Lagos

The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has officially denied rumours of relocating a fire-fighting simulator from the Nigerian College of Technology, Zaria, to Lagos State.
The clarification was issued through a formal statement by Tunde Moshood, the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to Festus Keyamo, the Aviation Minister.
The Ministry emphasised that there has been no such move of the simulator as speculated.
“The attention of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has been drawn to a video making the rounds of a motion moved on the floor of the House of Representatives by an Honourable member making reference to an unsubstantiated plan by the Ministry to move a fire-fighting simulator out of the Nigerian College of Technology, Zaria to Lagos State and urging the House to restrain the move,” the statement read in part.
Keyamo further dismissed the claim as the work of mischief makers and assured that the alleged plan was untrue.
While acknowledging the House’s patriotism, the Ministry deemed the motion unnecessary, citing a prior meeting between the Speaker and the Minister where the issue was addressed. He reportedly contacted the Rector of the Nigerian College of Technology, Zaria, who confirmed the rumour as baseless.
Social media reactions, however, express worry over the alleged relocation of fire-fighting equipment, with one netizen labeling it an “anti-Northern agenda.”
“The fire fighting equipment & the simulation equipment used for training in the only West African Aviation Institute established in 1964 in Zaria Nigeria, is now directed to be removed and relocated to Lagos by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation. Another anti-Northern agenda”, he said
Suspicious transfer of key departments from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from their original locations in Abuja to Lagos, adds weight to the speculations.
Keyamo, however, assured the public that the rumour was baseless, and no such plans were being considered.
