FBI releases the fifth and final batch of #TinubuFiles on Drug Trafficking Involvement

1.1k

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday released the fifth and final batch of document records on Bola Ahmed Tinubu, unveiling its involvement in drug trafficking, which included Abiodun Agbele, Adegboyega Mueez Akande, and Lee Andrew Edwards.

Following the fourth #TinubuFiles released on February 3, which detailed Tinubu as the recipient of drug proceeds, the fifth file, as established by the FBI in Case No. 245-IP-71386-UUUUUU, unveiled the connection between these people.

However, the FBI, in response to the FOIA request, disclosed in its final batch that Akande is the source of heroin supply to Edwards, and Tinubu’s name was redacted in broker to the deal to clear his name in connection with drug-related crimes or activities in 2003.

The FBI documents constitute the last batch of its response to a lawsuit instituted by Plainsite.org’s founder, Aaron Greenspan, and West Africa Weekly Editor-in-Chief David Hundeyin under the Freedom Of Information Act.

Meanwhile, previous releases have shown the redacted name as a known associate of Akande, who is now the president of Nigeria following a judgment of Nigeria’s supreme court.

It is worth noting that the United States Justice Department’s involvement was heavily redacted, leading to criticism of Tinubu as a potential US intelligence asset following the FOIA release.
