The Information and Communications Technology Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has been gutted by fire. A video circulating showed the fire outbreak at the hospital on Thursday afternoon.
According to information gathered from the statement on the hospital’s X handle, the fire started at the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Unit at about 2 pm but was promptly put out by the Fire Service, thus resulting in no casualties.
The statement read:
“A mild fire started at the hospital’s Information and Communications Technology Unit at about 2 pm on Tuesday, April 4th, 2024. The fire service arrived promptly, and the fire was completely put out; there were no casualties.
“We want to reassure the public and our esteemed clients that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their continued safety.”
It also stated that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of damage to the hospital infrastructure.
