Nigerian Army Goes After IPOB/ESN Members in Abia Forest

432

In a move to apprehend the perpetrators of a recent attack on troops in Aba, the Nigerian Army’s Operation UDO KA conducted a raid in the Igboro Forest, Arochukwu LGA, Abia State.

The operation, said to have targeted the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliate Eastern Security Network (ESN), led to the neutralisation of six members of the terrorist group.

During the intelligence-led clearance operation, troops encountered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along their advance route.

One soldier sustained minor injuries from a fragment but continued the mission. The terrorists’ feeble resistance was subdued by the troops’ superior firepower, resulting in six enemy combatants being neutralised and others fleeing with gunshot wounds, as evidenced by blood trails, the Army noted in a post on X.

The operation yielded significant recoveries, including three locally fabricated rocket-propelled grenade launchers, two locally fabricated artillery guns with tripods, and associated ammunition. Additionally, several dane guns, Biafran flags, and vehicles – a Toyota Tundra and a Hilux – were destroyed.

The Nigerian Army has called on the public in Abia State to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information.

The Army urged citizens to report suspicious activities to the Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA by dialling *193 and pressing option 2.
