Former South African High Jump World Champion Found Dead After Missing In June

The body of a former South African high jump world champion, Jacques Frietag, was found by the South African police after he went missing in the middle of June.
South African local media reported Wednesday that the Freitag, 42, had been shot. The police said they found his body in a field close to a cemetery in Pretoria.
Freitag won the 2002 World Championship title in Paris and participated in the 2004 Olympics held in Greece.
His sister had asked for help on social media regarding finding him, who was declared missing on June 17. The sister, Chrissie Lewis, said Freitag battled with drug addiction after his career in athletics ended.
The late world champion is among the few who have won world championships at youth, junior and senior athletics events.
