The Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Dapo Abiodun, has promised to accelerate road infrastructure development across the state following a recent inspection visit to critical road projects.

This commitment comes in response to a surge of complaints from residents about the poor state of roads, particularly highlighted under the social media hashtag #DapoFixOgunRoad.

In a post on X, Governor Abiodun assured residents of Ifo, Ado-Odo Ota, and other parts of Ogun State that his administration will continue prioritising and expediting road projects.

“We have set a two-week deadline for the completion of the Denro/Ishasi/Akute Road and have issued a directive to the contractors to ensure timely completion,” Abiodun announced.

This renewed commitment follows the administration’s earlier announcement of a massive rehabilitation and reconstruction project targeting numerous roads within the state.

The project they noted addresses the widespread dissatisfaction expressed by residents regarding the deplorable condition of many roads, some of which have become nearly impassable due to flooding and neglect.

Days earlier, Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya highlighted that the state government prioritises road repairs based on available funds and the economic significance of the roads.

According to Akinsanya, 120 roads across the 20 local government areas have been identified by stakeholders as needing urgent attention.

The administration is set to tackle these projects to improve the overall infrastructure and connectivity within the state.

The promise to accelerate road repairs and construction is seen as a direct response to the residents’ outcry and a demonstration of the government’s commitment to addressing the infrastructural challenges facing Ogun State.
