The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved the appointment of three second-class Emirs over the newly created emirates in Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.

The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved the appointment of three second-class Emirs over the newly created emirates in Rano, Gaya, and Karaye.

This was made known on Wednesday in a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sanusi Tofa, made available to PUNCH.

The newly appointed Emirs are expected to serve as custodians of culture, peace, and unity within their respective domains.

Alhaji Muhammad Karaye, the erstwhile district head of Rogo, is now appointed as the Emir of Karaye. In his new position, he would preside over and promote cultural heritage and foster peace in Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas.

The erstwhile district head of Bunkure, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, has been appointed Emir of Rano. He shall preside over Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure District Local Government Areas.

The erstwhile Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya, has been returned to the Emir of Gaya. His emirate shall be based on Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government Areas.

The appointments came after Governor Yusuf, last week, assented to a bill meant to create three second-class emirates.

In an inaugural message, Governor Abba Yusuf charged the newly appointed Emirs with their roles in keeping cultural values and fostering unity among people.

He tasked them with safeguarding rich traditions and keeping their emirates peaceful and harmonious. The emirates were declared second-class, with Kano remaining first-class in the state.
