Paralympics 2024: Flora Ugwunwa Wins Silver in Javelin

Nigeria’s Flora Ugwunwa has won a silver medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Javelin F54 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, with a throw of 19.26m.

She finished behind Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova, who set a new World Record with a throw of 21.12m. Iran’s Elham Salehi secured the bronze medal with a distance of 16.24m.

This marks Nigeria’s first medal in Para-Athletics at the Paris Games, and the country’s overall medal count at the Paris Paralympics now stands at four.

Ugwunwa, aged 40, has three consecutive Paralympic medals, including two previous golds from the Rio and Tokyo Games.
