Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido electrified a sold-out audience in Ethiopia on September 11, 2024, as the country celebrated the beginning of its new year, 2017. Ethiopia follows the Orthodox Tewahedo calendar, 7 years behind the Gregorian calendar.

The Grammy-nominated artist treated the crowd to some of his biggest hits, including tracks from his record-breaking album Timeless. The event marked another high point in Davido’s year, following three nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards.

The Ethiopian New Year celebration on September 11 is a long-standing tradition tied to the country’s unique calendar system, which consists of 13 months. Davido’s presence and performance added excitement to the national celebration.

In addition to his ongoing success, Davido recently released a new single, “Joy,” featuring five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo, sparking further Grammy buzz. Fans are also eagerly awaiting his fifth studio album, which he has described as his best work to date.
