Dangote Refinery Refutes Claims of Fuel Loading Delay, Urges Marketers to Pay Directly

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has clarified that it is not responsible for any challenges experienced by members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in loading refined petroleum products.

According to a press statement released today, Dangote asserts that it has not received any payments from IPMAN for product purchases and has no direct business dealings with the association.

The refinery highlighted that all payments made by IPMAN members have been processed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and that NNPCL has neither approved nor authorised the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN through Dangote.

“At present, we can load 2,900 trucks per day and are also evacuating petroleum products by sea. We advise IPMAN to register with us and make direct payments, as we have more than enough products to meet their needs,” the statement read.

Dangote further warned stakeholders to refrain from making speculative statements in the media. The refinery encouraged all parties to collaborate, promoting unity over media conflicts.

Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, in the statement, noted that Dangote is fully capable of meeting the nation’s fuel demand for petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel.

He reaffirmed that with proper registration and direct payment, IPMAN members could promptly access the needed products.

This is coming after earlier claims that Dangote Petroleum Refinery had commenced direct supply of petrol to oil marketers without the involvement of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) as a shift in Nigeria’s fuel distribution, with oil marketers now able to purchase petrol directly from the refinery on a willing-buyer, willing-seller basis.
