Nigerian music icon Wizkid has achieved another historic milestone as his album, Made in Lagos, re-entered the Billboard World Album chart at No. 24, marking its sixth consecutive year on the chart.

Released in 2020, the album has broken records, spending 100 weeks on the Billboard World Album chart and peaking on the Billboard 200. Its hit single “Essence,” featuring Tems, further cemented its global impact, with a remix featuring Justin Bieber reaching No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the highest-charting Afrobeats song.

The album earned significant recognition, receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album, while the track “Essence” was nominated for Best Global Music Performance.

In addition to this achievement, Wizkid has been named Africa’s highest earner on Spotify. According to Chart Masters, the Grammy-nominated artist earned $1 million in monthly Spotify revenue, outpacing other Nigerian artists like Burna Boy ($782,148) and Tems ($660,210).

Wizkid’s consistent success underscores his influence on the global stage, solidifying Made in Lagos as one of Nigeria’s most impactful albums in the streaming era while highlighting his role in the international rise of Afrobeats.
