Nollywood actor Jide Kene Achufusi, popularly known as Swanky JKA, has officially ventured into film production with the launch of his debut TV series, City of Dreams.
Achufusi, who gained national acclaim for his breakout role in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, is taking on a new challenge. This time behind the camera as the executive producer of a series designed to showcase the culture, creativity, and modern urban life of Enugu, his home state.
The City of Dreams project has been described as a “love letter to Enugu.” Still in early development, the series will be shot at locations across various parts of Enugu, emphasising the state’s architectural beauty, youthful energy, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Achufusi’s transition from actor to producer marks a significant career shift. It contributes to the growing wave of young Nollywood talents taking control of narratives in front of and behind the camera. Having featured in multiple films that span romantic comedies and supernatural thrillers, the actor brings a versatile range of experience into his new filmmaking role.
Born and raised in Enugu, Achufusi has become one of Nollywood’s rising stars, best known for his charismatic screen presence and role as Nnamdi Okeke in Living in Bondage, earning him an AMAA nomination. His role in Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards further established him as a leading man capable of drawing younger audiences to cinemas and streaming platforms.
City of Dreams is expected to make calls for an audition soon.
