The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on their military base in Boulkessi, near Douentza, early Sunday morning, June 1, 2025, according to an official communiqué released by the military.

The attack was swiftly countered by FAMa units deployed in the area. In the statement, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces emphasised the determination and rapid response of the Malian forces, noting that several terrorists were neutralised, some to the point of being unidentifiable due to the intensity of the counterattack.

Ongoing military operations have led to the destruction of multiple strategic terrorist hideouts in the surrounding region. The FAMa continue to conduct clearance and search operations to ensure the complete neutralisation of enemy elements and the restoration of security in the area.

Praising the bravery and resilience of the deployed troops, the Chief of the General Staff called on all military personnel to maintain their vigilance and continue operations until complete victory is achieved. He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to defending the Malian population and securing national territory from extremist threats.
