The Ondo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive election materials ahead of the November 16, 2024, off-cycle governorship election.

This was disclosed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Oluwatoyin Babalola, during a media briefing in Akure on Saturday.

Babalola revealed that a significant percentage of the non-sensitive materials have already been received and distributed across the 18 local government areas of the state.

She noted that the materials are stored in secure locations, with INEC working closely with security agencies to safeguard them.

I am pleased to inform you that a large percentage of the non-sensitive election materials required for the election have been received and deployed to the 18 Local Government Offices, where they are batched to RAs and PUs levels. We are working closely with the relevant security agencies and stakeholders to ensure safe storage and timely distribution of these materials on the eve of the election, Babalola said.

She further disclosed that the number of registered voters in the state has been harmonised, with the total now at 2,053,061. Of this figure, 1,034,006 (50.36%) are male, while 1,019,055 (49.64%) are female.
