Breaking: Flooding on Third Mainland Bridge Routes Causes Gridlock

435

Severe flooding on the right lane of the Third Mainland Bridge has reportedly caused significant traffic disruption in Lagos this morning.

This unexpected deluge has created a significant bottleneck, affecting commuters.

According to witnesses on X, the flooding extended from the Iyana-Oworo area, particularly around Olopo Meji, to the bridge itself.

This has caused a traffic jam that stretched back to Alapere, as vehicles were forced to navigate through the middle lane to avoid the inundated right side.

Eyewitnesses have taken to X and are sharing videos of the flooding. Motorists reported that the Iyana-Oworo end is entirely submerged, making it nearly impassable.

This situation has raised questions about the recent renovation work completed by the Federal Government just a few weeks ago.

The newly commissioned bridge was expected to improve traffic flow and safety, yet this incident has highlighted potential flaws in its drainage infrastructure.
