Burkina Faso Forces Repel Terrorist Attacks in Bissiga and Diapaga

324

Burkina Faso’s defence forces have defeated armed extremist groups operating in the eastern regions of the country.  A successful counter-operation was marked by the coordination of national forces, particularly in Bissiga and Diapaga.

On June 18, a group of terrorists attempted to launch an assault on the town of Bissiga, located in the Centre-Est region. However, their efforts were quickly thwarted by a swift and powerful response from local defence groups and patriotic volunteers.

According to Agence d’Information du Burkina (AIB), the attackers were forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning personal belongings and supplies.

An even more impactful operation followed the failed Bissiga attack in the east of the country. Between June 13 and 14, Burkina Faso’s special forces executed a high-stakes operation surrounding Diapaga. The offensive, described by military sources as “decisive,” resulted in heavy losses for the enemy and the seizure of a significant cache of weapons and equipment.
