Burkina Faso's Head of State, Capt. Ibrahim Traoré.

President Ibrahim Traoré will inaugurate a new cement factory in Laongo, the Société Industrielle Sino-Burkina de Ciments SA (CISINOB), on Thursday, March 20, 2025. This will include an interactive session with key stakeholders in Ziniaré and a visit to the Plateau-Central region as part of his commitment to grassroots governance, according to AESInfo.

This initiative aligns with the President’s approach to directly engaging with local communities and assessing their concerns firsthand. During these discussions, he aims to address challenges and reaffirm the government’s dedication to regional development.

Press statement

The inauguration of CISINOB marks a significant step toward the industrialization of Burkina Faso. Established with an investment exceeding 26 billion CFA francs, the plant is expected to produce and commercialize cement, generating 110 permanent jobs and 300 indirect employment opportunities.

The project results from a collaborative effort between Burkina Faso and China, reinforcing bilateral economic relations. Highlighting the country’s openness to international partnerships, Traoré previously stated:

Let all friends of Burkina Faso understand that we remain open to those seeking a sincere and respectful partnership. Our country will be their host, and we can collaborate.

The new cement factory will contribute significantly to Burkina Faso’s construction sector and economic growth.
