Customs Intercepts Fish Truck Heading for Burkina Faso in Kumasi Warehouse

On Sunday, Customs officers of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), on notice of diversion, intercepted a truck loaded with fish headed to Burkina Faso.

According to Citi News, Customs officers tracking the delivery truck discovered the diversion and intervened as the fish was unloaded into a Kumasi warehouse.

However, speaking to the media, the Ashanti Regional Commander of Customs Assistant Commissioner Vivian Glover told Citi News,

The consignment was destined for Burkina Faso.

They usually put a tracking device on it so that they can monitor the movement of the consignment. The route was through Kumasi, and we were monitoring it, but along the line, we realised that the truck was off-route, which means it was no longer on the approved route, Glover added.

He maintained that the interception was possible because the GRA had officers detailed where the tracking device was signalling.

Our officers locked the warehouse with a revenue lock, which means Customs have taken control over the consignment, and the truck conveying the consignment is also to be detained, so the truck has been taken to our yard in Aboabo, Glover said.
