ECOWAS, Others hold Coordinated Meeting to Support Lagos Air Transport Program

The ECOWAS Commission, in a collaborative effort with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Banjul Accord Group for Aviation Safety Oversight Organization (BAGASOO), is organizing a crucial three-day meeting in Lagos.

The primary objective of this meeting is to implement a significant Support Program for Air Transport Development in West and Central Africa (PASTA-CO).

The meeting, which commenced on Tuesday, 7th – 9th May 2024, aimed at bringing together beneficiaries of the African Development Fund (ADF) Grant, including ECOWAS, ICAO, and BAGASOO.

With the ADF Grant, the PASTA-CO project in Lagos will be implemented. Hence, the meeting aims to examine ways and means to accelerate the project.

According to ECOWAS, the three-day meeting will also review the status of implementing project activities, update the PASTA-CO Action Plan, update the technical agreements for 2019, identify the constraints and difficulties encountered, and propose corrective measures to be taken by the stakeholders: ECOWAS Commission, BAGASOO, and ICAO, among others.

We are committed to deepening regional economic integration by promoting intra-connectivity through air transport development in the Region, says ECOWAS.

Meanwhile, the report adds that discussions will be held on the outstanding 2019-2020-2021 audit, and deliberations will be held on facilitating the following audit exercises.
