#EdoDecides: PDP Candidate Asue Ighodalo Casts Vote as Voting Commences Late in Ewohimi

After a delay in the arrival of election materials, voting finally commenced around 10:45 a.m. at Okaegben Ward 1, Polling Unit 3, Ewohimi, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, cast his vote.

Ighodalo arrived at the polling unit, located in Esan South-East Local Government Area, and exercised his franchise at 12:07 p.m. The voting process had been delayed due to the absence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and materials, which frustrated voters who had been waiting since the morning.

Earlier, voters at Okaegben Ward 1, Polling Units 3 and 15, expressed concerns over the late start, with many fearing that the delay could disrupt the smooth conduct of the Edo governorship election. Mr Christopher Adoghe, a voter at Polling Unit 3, noted that as of 10:30 a.m., INEC officials were yet to arrive, leaving elderly voters standing in the rain without any communication from the electoral body.

Despite these initial challenges, the voting process resumed smoothly once election materials arrived, allowing Ighodalo and other eligible voters in the area to cast their ballots.

The PDP candidate’s polling unit was among several in Ewohimi that experienced a late start, but the voting exercise is now progressing.
