Fire Raze Furniture Shop in Ibadan Estate

578

Tragedy struck this afternoon in the Ire Akari Estate Area of Soka, Ibadan, and Oyo State as a devastating fire engulfed a furniture shop, sending smoke billowing into the sky. The inferno, which reportedly began around 3 pm, quickly spread, posing a grave threat to nearby properties and residents.

Gathered sources online noted that the fire originated from a furniture shop within the estate, sending panic through the community.

An anonymous eyewitness told WestAfricaWeekly that the cause of the inferno was as a result of negligence from apprentices of the furniture shop who set fire to burn waste from their shop (furniture house) but did not stay to watch it, so it escalated beyond control.

The videos posted online by X users calling for emergency responses to quench the fire showed onlookers and residents watching helplessly while flames ravaged the establishment.

This unfortunate incident comes on the heels of a recent explosion in Bodija, Ibadan, which claimed lives and caused extensive damage to properties.
