Gas explosion hits the community of Idimu-Ketu, Lagos. The incident resulted in the loss of goods amounting to millions of naira.
According to a statement by the Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye, the emergency call was received around 2 pm, adding that the fire, which resulted from leakage of a gas cylinder in use at one of the shops, led to the explosion that spread to several other shops. It was further revealed that the fire has been brought under control, with ongoing efforts to extinguish any lingering pockets of flames. 
However, fire gutted the nearby workshops, and vehicles parked in a repair state after the gas explosion, leaving many shops disrupted.
As gas poses a grave risk yet remains a commodity consumers can’t do without, it is important that adequate attention is given to its containment to avoid accidents, especially as the weather moves towards harmattan.
