A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, living at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu, has allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death following a heated argument on Friday.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, Motunrayo reportedly locked his 25-year-old wife in their room after the attack and set the room on fire in an attempt to conceal the crime.

The man also inflicted minor injuries on himself after committing the act.

Police officers from the Ikorodu Division arrived at the scene, extinguished the fire, and discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body with multiple stab wounds to her abdomen.

Motunrayo was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and later taken into custody.

The body has been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy, and further investigation is ongoing, Hundeyin stated.
