Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have officially been declared dead after a helicopter crash report in Dizmar forest in East Azarbaijan Province on Sunday.

Following the crash, Iran’s Guardian Council spokesperson, Tahan Nazif, in an interview on Monday, said with the Supreme Leader’s approval, a council consisting of the Iranian Judiciary chief, parliament speaker, and vice president will take measures to conduct elections within 50 days.

The Iranian nation shouldn’t be worried. There will be no disruption to the country’s operations,” the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stated.

According to Article 131 of Iran’s Constitution, in case of death, dismissal, resignation, absence, or illness lasting longer than two months of the president, or when his term in office has ended, and a new president has not been elected due to some impediments or similar circumstances, the vice president shall assume, with the approval of the Supreme Leader.

In case of the vice president’s death or other matters preventing him from performing his duties, or when the president does not have a vice president, the Supreme Leader shall appoint another person in his place.

Meanwhile, Raisi has since been branded the Iranian nation’s servant who was martyred during his service to the country and as Imam of Reza.

Indeed, we are from Allah, and indeed to Him shall we return,” the tribute statement reads on Iran’s government website.
