Just In: Fire Erupts at NNPC Filling Station in Lagos

Fire has broken out at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) filling station near the Fadeyi bus stop in the Mushin area of Lagos. The blaze, which started late evening, has prompted urgent calls for intervention from fire services and emergency agencies.
Eyewitnesses on social media shared tragic videos of the incident. An X user, Oladele, posted, “NNPC close to Fadeyi bus stop is burning seriously @jidesanwoolu. A lot of houses and businesses are beside that petrol station. Please retweet until Lagos state firefighters see this.”
Another X user, @chuks, shared videos of the intense fire, stating, “Currently happening, a fuel tanker caught fire at NNPC fuel station in Fadeyi, Lagos State.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and there has been no official statement regarding the extent of the damage. The fire has led to major traffic congestion in the vicinity.
This fire incident comes just a week after a similar incident in the Surulere area of Lagos, where a fuel-laden truck fire led to the loss of two lives and widespread panic among residents.
As of press time, the fire was still on, and only one firefighter tanker has arrived at the scene.
