Protest Is Democratic Right, I Am Ready To Join Protesters - Says Kano Governor Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has denied any knowledge of a recent contract allegedly awarded for the supply of drugs to the state’s 44 local government councils. The governor responded to allegations that the contract was awarded to Musa Garba Kwankwaso, reportedly the brother of political figure Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The claims were made on Sunday via a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, and the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The Governor, therefore, directed the Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), to immediately investigate the allegation and report the outcome for further necessary action.

Gov. Yusuf also urged the good people of Kano State to exercise patience pending the outcome of the investigation, the statement reads.

The allegations gained traction after US-born filmmaker and content creator Bello Galadanchi released a video claiming that each local government council was directed to pay N10 million for the drug supply contract. The contract was allegedly awarded to Novomed, a company owned by Musa Garba Kwankwaso.

Governor Yusuf has urged the public to remain patient as the investigation unfolds.
