The recently launched civic platform KnowDemWell has come under a wave of cyberattacks following its publication about Nigeria’s top political figures. The platform, which debuted on December 2, 2024, aims to provide non-partisan, comprehensive insights into the ideologies and policies of political leaders.

It has faced backlash after labelling President Bola Tinubu’s political ideology as “totalitarian democracy.” KnowDemWell also reported that Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima Ibrahim, aligns with Islamism as his political ideology. The platform highlighted several allegations against Shettima, including the embezzlement of 600 billion Naira during his tenure as Governor of Borno State, connections with Boko Haram terrorist Kabiru Sokoto, and support for conscripting child soldiers to combat insurgents.
