Tinubu fires five aviation agencies heads

Following the aviation investigations that exposed irregularities in the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the exposé by West Africa Weekly Editor-in-Chief, as revealed in numerous series over the past six months, has led to the decision of Bola Tinubu to relieve five aviation agencies heads of their position with immediate effect.

Those sacked include the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Managing Director Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, Nigeria Meteorological Agency NiMET, Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) Muhammed Odunowo and Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB) Akin Olateru while the NCAA is meted with suspension. The Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu was suspended from office to enable the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to conduct an unfettered investigation into his activities as Director-General and other senior officials in the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority while Capt. Chris Najomo assumes office as  Acting Director-General.

Furthermore, the President, as made publicly known on Wednesday through his media aides, approved the commencement of the process—to be conducted by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo—to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers of the African Aviation and Aerospace University.
