The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has repainted its dilapidated curriculum centre situated in the Jibowu axis of Lagos State after active citizens called out the government on the poor state of the building.

The repainting was done following a viral post by an X (formerly Twitter) user, @winexviv on July 11, 2024. The post garnered over 250,000 views as of Tuesday, July 23rd.

This is NERDC (National Education Research Development Council) in Jibowu Lagos, Close to WAEC office. This is the body in charge of the curriculum used in secondary schools,” the user wrote on X.

Following the repainting of the building, @MzTumz posted on X a clear picture depicting the renovation.

They repainted it because of your tweet,” the user reposted.

With the disclosure, West Africa Weekly conducted a satellite overview of the address at No. 3, Jibowu Street, Lagos State, confirming the development.

Meanwhile, the building in question is one of the offices of the NERDC, an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria charged with the responsibility of implementing educational policies in Nigeria, which was formally recognised by law in 1988 by an enabling Decree No. 53 (now ACT No. 53) and merged four educational research and development bodies into one organisation.
