A high-risk counter-terrorism operation conducted on June 25 in the village of Alabarkaize, located in the rural community of Tanda, has resulted in the arrest of four individuals suspected of involvement in armed groups, including a man identified as Boube Djenne, believed to be a key leader responsible for multiple violent acts in the region, Aïr-Info Agadez reports.

Acting on the directive of the Prefect of the Gaya department, security forces deployed a coordinated strike involving four vehicles from the Niger Armed Forces (FAN) detachment stationed at the Gaya bridge and two vehicles from the local joint patrol unit.

The mission’s objective was to apprehend individuals linked to recent criminal and terrorist activities threatening the area’s stability.

During a search of Boube Djenne’s residence, security forces seized a motorcycle and a quantity of pharmaceutical tablets. Local sources played a crucial role in the operation, providing actionable intelligence that led to the arrest of two of Djenne’s alleged accomplices.

One of them is reported to have served as a motorcycle taxi driver for terrorist operatives, facilitating their movement across the region. A fourth suspect, also believed to be connected to armed groups, was arrested during the course of the operation.
