Oyo State Shuts Down Six Health Facilities Over Quackery

The Oyo State government has closed down six health facilities across the state due to instances of quackery. These facilities were found guilty of various offences, such as hiring unqualified personnel to administer medical services and engaging in illicit practices.

Dr. Adekunle Aremu, Chairman of the state’s Anti-quackery Task Force Committee, announced this decision during an inspection and monitoring exercise conducted in the Ibadan metropolis. He emphasized that this action was part of the government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of its residents.

Dr. Aremu stressed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards quackery and substandard practices in the health sector, warning that individuals involved would face legal consequences. He urged the public to report any suspicious or unlawful activities observed in health facilities to the Ministry of Health or the nearest security agency.

Furthermore, Dr. Aremu advised citizens to seek medical assistance only from accredited and registered health facilities in the state, ensuring that qualified personnel attend to their needs. He called on healthcare workers to adhere to the ethical standards of their profession and urged residents to support the government’s efforts in providing high-quality and affordable healthcare services.

In reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining stringent standards and prioritizing the health and safety of its citizens, Dr. Aremu stated:

“The goals remain clear, Oyo State government is dedicated to upholding rigorous standards and prioritizing the health and safety of every resident. The government ensures that healthcare services consistently meet the highest benchmarks for quality and safety, so citizens can trust their well-being.”

The sealed facilities include New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic & Maternity Home Iped, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre Ogbere, Safeway Clinic Gbaremu, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre in Ibadan.
