The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially named Finidi George, the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

The NFF initially disclosed Finidi’s appointment two weeks ago. Today marks George’s official unveiling, as he signed his contract at a gathering attended by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and Sports Minister John Enoh.

A familiar face in Nigerian football, George boasts an illustrious domestic and international career, having left an indelible mark during his time with Ajax.

His appointment signals a new chapter for the Super Eagles, with hopes high for a resurgence under his leadership.

Daniel Amokachi, George’s former Super Eagles teammate, will be his assistant. Olatunji Baruwa has also been appointed as the goalkeeper trainer.

George is set to hire two assistant coaches from Europe to harness a blend of experience and innovation.

According to some reports, George has been awarded a one-year contract, with expectations high for immediate results.

Having assumed the reins of the Super Eagles in March, he is already deep into preparations for the upcoming crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, which are scheduled for June.
