Three Drug Kingpins, 16 Others Sentenced to 302 Years for Drug Trafficking – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced that three major drug traffickers and 16 others have been sentenced to a combined total of 302 years in prison. They were convicted of drug trafficking involving cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, and opioids.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said these 19 individuals were among 414 drug traffickers and dealers convicted by the Federal High Court in various locations, including Benue, Bauchi, Edo, Lagos, Ogun, Gombe, and Abuja, between July 1 and July 31, 2024. The convictions followed charges brought by the NDLEA.
One of the three major traffickers, 50-year-old Bolanle Dauda, was caught on May 25, 2024, while trying to smuggle drugs from Nigeria to Ghana. During his arrest on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, authorities found 42 blocks of cocaine weighing 47.5 kilograms. A subsequent search of his home in Ogun State uncovered an additional 10 kilograms of cocaine, bringing the total to 57.5 kilograms. Dauda was later tried in a Federal High Court in Lagos.
